Dar Loughat Language School of Arabic is situated in the heart of the city of Tetouan in northern Morocco. The city which boasts of its beautiful beaches, evergreen Rif Mountains and its five-century-old Medina has been declared World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, is the site for Dr Loughat.

The institute not only provides an excellent academic environment for Arabic education but also promotes cultural and outdoor activities to facilitate holistic learning. With a small class size of 3-8 students in each class, it ensures that personal attention is given to each student in a multi-cultural environment. It is quite popular amongst Europeans with 63.20% European students enrolled in the campus. It extends an environment of mutual understanding between students, faculty and staff.

Various courses offered by the institute facilitate an in-depth as well as professional knowledge of Arabic language used in day-to day life:

• Modern Standard Arabic;
• Colloquial Moroccan Arabic;
• Spoken Arabic;
• Specialized Courses.

The specialized courses include: study of ‘An Introduction to Islam, Moroccan History, Sufism in Morocco, Andalusian History etc. These courses are offered on a one-on-one basis according to students’ interest and request and may be offered in Arabic, English, Spanish or French.

New programmes have been introduced namely AECS Joint Program offered by Dar Loughat in cooperation with AECS and combines a language program in Granada with an Arabic language program in Tetouan. It gives the students, an opportunity to enjoy the enchanting Andalusian culture for a week or more and in less than an hour cross to the other side of the Mediterranean Sea to learn Arabic and explore Morocco. Since 2009, a four-week summer program which combines Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) with a peace and justice-themed course and volunteer work has been launched. It facilitates the students who have taken majors such as political science, international relations, peace and conflict studies, Islamic studies and Arabic language and culture. The programme is offered through BCA board. A US based educational organization.

The team of highly qualified and trained staff is led by chairman Mr. M’hammad Benaboud, Phd. All the instructors are highly qualified and dedicated and exemplify excellent team play. Teachers come with years of experience in the industry and have strong professional and academic qualifications.

Years spent at Dar Loughat expose the students not only to principles and practices of Arabic culture but also an insight into the beautiful life of Morocco. Home stay program and The First Friend program facilitate a healthy blend of students with the life and people of Morocco. Students are encouraged to know the Moroccan culture better by staying with a host family who will take care of their boarding and lodging. Apart from host families, budget and luxury hotels are also available for lodging or one can even opt for a furnished apartment. Regular excursions and trips are conducted in order to impart the language skills in practical and hand-on environment. Language is best grasped when the students are able to apply their learning by interacting with the local masses.
